For me - The Beatles
but I don't care for them ...

I have heard enough Nirvana to know they didn't impress me. I looked up that particular song on YouTube and realized I had heard it multiple times and it still didn't change my opinion.
If Cobain hadn't blown his own head off, where would he be today? Probably playing clubs and bars and looking for a "comeback". Bands like AC/DC, Aerosmith, the Stones, Jethro Tull... have been going for decades.
I remember an interview someone did with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull years ago. The interviewer asked him how he felt about bands like Guns N' Roses (which was on top of the world at the time) and he said he thought they were great. The could fill a 50,000 seat stadium and still have to turn away people. The difference is "Where will they be in ten years? Jethro Tull may only fill 40,000 seats in that same stadium, but we have been doing it for 30 years" (at the time).
The great bands, the truly great bands are forever. Kobain and Nirvana were a momentary blip on the radar.

Right in @NapRover and my wheelhouses. Good choice!
I liked many things from Abba, but Fernando was a tad overrated (to me)
