Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
resister - you blew by a bunch of road blocks on this one, getting pop-up or whatever messages on your laptop should have been the first warning that something was badong. That happens with malware, which you probably have on your computer.
And calling them was a mistake. Google the phone number first. I never... NEVER call or return a call or even answer the phone if it's a number I don't recognize or if it shows up as unlisted. NEVER!!!!!
Googling the number is a slam-dunk way to find out if it's a scam.

You may have to dig around a little but you'll find message boards or consumer pages with messages where people did the exact same thing you did, talked to "John" from the middle east-kabumscrew and all that.
