Further - I think anyone "in the swamp" is going to have a stench that will follow them for a while. This past election was so brutal that anyone entrenched on either side is going to be viewed as poison from voters/citizens on either political spectrum.

Here's the good part or let me rephrase and say - Here's my prediction: I think the tide is turning on these high salaries. We are going to see an adjustment going forward for certain professions - media, radio, morning talk show, sport athletes.
A couple of things got my attention here. First, why do you care about the salaries paid to certain people in certain occupations or professions? Your life isn't impacted by that? They aren't stopping you from earning as much as you can. That comment shows jealousy or envy on your part.

Her lack of connection to the viewers of NBC broadcasts has nothing to do with "the swamp" or Trump. People who are watch NBC style news magazine programs aren't attracted to her style. She doesn't simply nod her head when being fed the liberal line of the day like a good little NBC journalist is supposed to do. She will confront people who misrepresent reality.

She isn't a good fit with NBC.

Thats not what she said, first of all she didnt mention salaries and what she clearly meant by the swamp was partisan poltics and shes dead on right that the other side in this case liberals were not going to take to right wing kelly turned liberal over night.

She went from a news outlet that leans right where she leaned right and went to a liberal outlet, she already had alienated both the left and right while she was at fox when she pulled that debate stunt on trump, the left never liked her to start with.

I think everything trish said was right on the money

Her reputation is fast declining. If she was making, say, $15 million a year at Fox (don't know the real number), it would increase over time and she would be on the air for years and years. With NBC? Her contract ends in 3 years and this is ruining her reputation. If it is about money, the longevity and safety at Fox would have led to a much larger payout in the long run.

I do not think there is any scenario where NBC would renew her contract for that much money, regardless of how her show is doing or how it might do. It is an obscene salary, perhaps not what the market will bear for her morning talk show.

She did comment on the the high salaries paid to others. She said this might be a turning point for the high salaries of media types and now they might start to be adjusted. Why do people care about the salaries of others especially when it has no impact upon your life?

Her failure to connect with the NBC audience has nothing to do with her skirmishes with Trump or "the swamp"

I said that she went to a network where she doesn't connect with the traditional audience. You basically agree, but it looks like you want to argue about it anyway.

As with most talent contracts, NBC might be able to buy her out with a lump sum payment, however she most likely would not be able to work in the broadcast field until the end of what would have been her contract expiration date.

If her show does tank completely they'll most likely keep her around doing reporting, subbing for Nightly News or working on specials; much like they did with Ann Curry, who was under contract, when she lost her position on the TODAY Show several years ago.

Either way, if she so chooses to stay at home once she's free and clear from NBC, she's got enough money to live very comfortably long term if she's smart.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

That's all true. I was just making the point that in terms of the pay-out, Fox would have been safer and lasted longer. I don't think her current gig will last.

. Obviously her current situation is not going to last. She made a career mistake. The NBC audience isn't receptive to her views or style.

Her mistake was eased by the big day she received.

My point regarding salaries was to suggest that I think they are out of wack with reality and what the average person makes. I would LOVE to make that kind of money so yeah - I'm a little envious but not jealous in a mean way. I make a pretty good living so I'm not destitute. Not sure why you would make this personal but whatever....

I agree, there is a disconnect with the audience she is trying to attract. She should have taken a break in between venues and maybe she would have been able to reset more successfully. Coming off of her gig with Putin probably didn't help either.
