TBH, localized gang shootings don't get much coverage, but if it is Mafia related, it gets all kinds of coverage. The public is not interested in mundane criminal gang activity, but let a Mafia Don et al get shot and it's national news. National news coverage is quixotic. It responds to viewer interest.
All that this shooting confirms to me is that criminals have no problem getting guns in America. Trading in illegal weapons is big business, particularly for organizations like the Mafia who tend to be running all of that illegal activity in places like Chicago and the system makes it easy for them. Who do you think introduced the drug trade to those areas to begin with? The Mafia figured it out back in the 60's when the unions started pushing out the black workers because many of the big industries started offshoring. This resulted in a growing population of unemployed and underemployed black males who needed money and no available work as well as a growing population of depressed men. Many were returning Viet Nam vets with no way to support their families. Not only were they used as shock troops in Nam, they were abandoned when they came home. The rest is history. Civil rights legislation only goes so far. The lack of work and increasing substance abuse led to the destruction of the family unit and the growth of counterculture and criminal gangs.

So all this shooting means to you is a political talking point about guns? I suppose that's typical on the left. Too bad the mainstream media didn't pick up the story. But then again Chicago has some of the strictist gun laws in America so a mass shooting there really just is a slap in the face of those laws.
I find your lack of faith...disturbing...

The strictest gun laws in the world are ineffective if 100 miles away there are the laxest gun laws in the world. There are no customs checkpoints between states. Those laws are effective for the law abiding. The overall system is a cake walk for criminal enterprise.

Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.
~Alain de Benoist
I should add that once again the implication here is that the whole country should have laws like Chicago's.
