Mass Shooting in Chicago. Media is silent.

So there was a mass shooting in Chicago last month that killed 4 one of whom was a woman that was believed to be pregnant and there were no threads on here, no media uprising, no calls for gun control, no screams for mental assessments for guns...nothing... I looked around and only found it on local Chicago news outlets.

Now the FBI defines a mass shooting as:

Mass murder is the act of murdering a number of people, typically simultaneously or over a short period of time and in close geographic proximity.^[1][2] The FBI defines mass murder as murdering four or more persons during an event with no "cooling-off period" between the murders. The term can be used to cover many types of killings, including spree killing, family murder/suicides and multiple deaths as an indirect result of an action (e.g. arson).

So why the silence on this from the mainstream? Is it not a mass murder because it happened in Chicago? Because the shooters are thought to be in gangs? Because Chicago gun laws continue to fail? Because there are no conservatives to blame? What gives?

It could be that if it is related to gangs, it's more of a local issue that is not going to be covered nationally. That is sort of how it is in Canada - when gangs go at it in Scarborough or North York (regions of Toronto/GTA, doesn't happen too often but it does happen) it does not tend to make national news. Also, the media has been really focused on Las Vegas and that is going to get more viewing than a smaller mass shooting that could be related to gangs.

I am leaning towards the media ignoring it because it would not draw in viewers.

Chicago is controlled by Democrats, and has been for decades, so our resident Democrats don't really want to talk about the epidemic of violent crime in Chicago since it is an indictment on their ability to govern.

This happened last month. Well before Vegas. Mass shootings always draw in viewers.
