You know, my dad was a gun guy. Hunted and fished, liked to rebuild old antique guns. I had a .38 Colt once. I sold it, because, in the throes of a major depression I might use it on myself!

I've known many gun nuts all my life. And I suspect that many of them harbored the fantasy of killing another human being, and wanted to live out that fantasy.

I've had guns drawn on me three times, and really resented it!
Once by State Park Rangers who thought my old lady was smuggling flowers out of the park; imagine that, two rangers saw her as a threat!OMG!
Another time a punk stole a rack of pool balls out of the local Snooker Parlor, and me and a bud caught him red-handed. He put the gun away and gave up the balls, and we were heros to the old timers at the Parlor. got free beer and pool for months! We were only 16, mind you!

Another time, some redneck $#@!s pulled guns on me and my bud in the bar parking lot, because my bud scratched on an eight ball, and smashed his stick into smithereens.

Had knives pulled on me more than a few times.

Most people are just glad it is over and want to get away.

Meaning that DGU is far greater than the statistic reflect.

This subject is kryptonite to gun grabbers, their confirmation bias will mean that you cant ever present enough facts to make them see the light.

The remainder disputes the NCVS finding.

BTW, it took all of 2 seconds to find that.

I now see resister cited that and you failed to read it.

Personal incredulity is a fallacy, you know.
I gave it a quick skim, but I have an extremely difficult time believing that guns are used defensively 2.5 million times a year but almost no one ever reports it. Not to the police, not to the media, not even too the NRA. Sorry but it's all anecdotal, nothing concrete.

Even if only 1% of the people ever reported it that would be 25,000 times a year. It would be verifiable to a certain extent then, but there is nothing like 25,000 reports of defensive gun use a year.

I will take the word of a University professor with a degree in criminology, over yours, any day. Peer reviewed.
