In Linda Ronstadt's autobiography, she recounts an incident that happened very early in her career. A mid-level record company executive came to her hotel room, ostensibly to discuss business, and immediately, without a word, took off all of his clothes. When she made it clear that nothing was going to happen between them, he got dressed, said, "If you tell anyone, they won't believe you" and left. That would have been in the late '60s, when many older men just assumed that any young woman involved in the performing arts was into "free love" and was fair game. Maybe Weinstein's mentality is just stuck in a previous decade.
