I've been eating gyros filled with roasted lamb meat, mainly from traditional Greek eating establishments, for forty years and I've never encountered any smell that was even remotely strong or unpleasant.

So we went camping this weekend. Gorgeous sunny weekend, was 13 outside when I woke up this morning lol. Will have pics later.

We grilled lamb steaks for dinner Saturday and I saved the coals. Restarted them this morning and grilled sausage links, whole wheat toast and made eggs on a little portable propane burner I got.

So we've grilled breakfast sausage before, it's good but the toast - awesome. Didn't think bread would toast on a charcoal grill well but it came out fantastic.

I thought you were older than 13 but you know best, but let me help you with the egg thing. You didn't MAKE eggs, only a hen can do that. I was a farm boy so I'm glad to help Cap.

Where is it that you live? Maybe it's not the lamb, but something else in the shop that's causing you to react that way. Or maybe they're not keeping the meat properly and it's spoiled, to some degree. I've had lumpia made here in the U.S. by Filipino-Americans and it was wonderful, whereas in the P.I. the smell was sometimes enough to gag you from across the room. Same recipe - different quality of ingredients.

Hey, I'm sometimes guilty of that particular verbal shortcut, myself. Tonight, in fact, I told the wife I was "going to make some eggs". I meant, of course, that I was going to prepare, fix or cook some eggs. Or I suppose you could consider it an abbreviated way of saying, "I'm going to make my dinner using some eggs".

There aren't any where I live now. When I lived in the DC suburbs, they were common and they smelled to high heavens. There was one place I used to go in Crystal City that had the best crabcakes in the world but you couldn't make use of their patio because of the stench of a kabob place a couple blocks away. It was a great restaurant but it was hard to get seating inside because nobody wanted to eat outside due to that smell.
