    Hurricane Reconstruction

It turns out, while politicians demand more government, private entities do more to rebuild after disaster.

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler

Volunteers usually out perform conscripts. In every way.

I agree that the federal government should not be funding these relief efforts. Charities and other entities are much better at helping because they have incentive. It's mind boggling the number of times the federal government has rebuilt in the same areas. Where is the self responsibility of the individual?

Why do they continue to live there?

Are you baiting me.....trying to get me to use reason? hahahaha

I'm sure there are a variety of legitimate reasons people remain and rebuild multiple times but I suspect much of it is driven by economics. If the federal government stopped footing the bill it may force people to reconsider their choices. I admit I've never experienced this situation first hand so I may not be considering some critical information when forming my opinion.

I'm thinking mainly those who live right on the coast or along rivers that frequently flood.

With Harvey, the storm surge went up into Houston and you can't move an entire city like Houston!

That's probably true. On the other hand, you could quit filling in lowlands to make it bigger.
