I simply made a comment about how interesting it is that you and ethereal are placing so much emphasis on historical records showing "intent" of those who wrote them, but yet, want to dismiss those same "historical records" when it comes to documentation about the Confederacy. You don't remember the discussions about secession and the civil war? Now, before you start hollering and bellyaching about "off-topic", see the posts I referenced above. It goes to placing credibility on using "historical documents" as a basis for an argument, either it can be given the same weight in all arguments, or some are choosing to disregard "historical documents" whenever their argument has no need for it.
Oh, so you're trying to drag discussion off topic with another of your whataboutisms.

We're talking about documents related to the Bill of Rights. Do you have some related document you'd like to enlighten us about?

Why do you put scare quotes around historical documents?

If you are unwilling and unable to understand what credibility is and how important it is when engaged in a debate, then that isn't my problem. Your calls about off-topic are dismissed, for I explained exactly how it pertains to "this" discussion. Either "historical documents" are accepted as showing the intent of those that created them, or they are not. You can not pick and choose based upon your argument.

Do you need a minute to google topic relevancy?
“Conscientiously believing that the proper condition of the negro is slavery, or a complete subjection to the white man, and entertaining the belief that the day is not distant when the old Union will be restored with slavery nationally declared to be the proper condition of all of African descent, and in view of the future harmony and progress of all the States of America, I have been induced to issue this address, so that there may be no misunderstanding in the future”
