There are an estimated 14 million new cases of HPV per year and most people sexually active will have it during their lives as it is often asymptomatic. Most cervical cancers in women are caused by HPV. There is no indication HPV is more prevalent in gays. At best, it would suggest that they are more susceptible to certain HPV related cancers while heterosexuals would be more susceptible to other forms of HPV cancer. Gardasil is formulated to help prevent the most cancer-linked strains of HPV but there are a lot of people out there who swear that vax has caused some very tragic outcomes so it is being avoided by others.
