Man rolls off Loop 1604 bridge, leaves 5-year-old girl with broken leg behind in wrec

What kind of jerk does this to their kid?

Man rolls off Loop 1604 bridge, leaves 5-year-old girl with broken leg behind in wreckage

Police are searching for a driver who rolled his vehicle off a Loop 1604 bridge on the North Side and then fled the scene, leaving his child behind in the wreckage.

The child's mother had been following the driver, and she reported the crash around 10:30 p.m. at Loop 1604 and Blanco Road, according to police.

Police said the driver took a wide turn onto Blanco Road, drove through a barricade and rolled off the bridge onto Loop 1604.

Paramedics found the child with a broken leg and transported her to University Hospital.

It is unclear why the mother had been following the driver and why the driver fled. Authorities are now searching for the driver.

I'm guessing the father was drunk or an illegal alien or both. No excuses for this type of child neglect. The mother just upped her chances for full custody. I am glad the child wasn't more serverly hurt or killed. This goes into the Some People File for sure.

There is something fishy in the mother following them. Odd.

I'm guessing marital problems and custody issues.

Hes a pos but know what Chris, cops see even worse. Sometimes what you see that people have done to thier kids or allowed to happen, you literally feel sick

    They got him. Drinking.

Father charged after he runs from crash, leaves injured daughter behind

38-year-old Jose Orellana has been taken into custody on a charge of failure to stop and render aid.

...A witness told police they saw Orellana try to leave the scene with his five-year-old daughter, but that he eventually ran off without her.

Police said they tracked down the girl's mother who told them she had left the child with Orellana.

Police said a few hours later they answered a call a few miles away about an injured man. When they arrived, officers said Orellana told them he had been hurt in a bar fight.

Investigators said Orellana later admitted that the bar fight wasn't true and that his injuries came from the vehicle crash.

Orellana told authorities he ran from the scene because he had been drinking but he insisted he did check on his daughter first -- and that he had left her in the care of the witness.
