These kinds of statistics are largely irrelevant where Congress is concerned. America as a whole doesn't pick who goes to Congress, we only pick who represents our districts/states in Congress. Also, despite historically low approval ratings for Congress in general (14% as of 2014), more than half of Americans (54%) say they approve of their own senator/representative. Incumbents also tend to have pretty good electoral survivability.
Regardless, it should be an interesting midterm to watch.
