“Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured…but not everyone must prove they are a citizen. And now, any of those who refuse, or are unable, to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens.”

My exposure to Seth McFarlane is limited - mostly to my having watched the hysterical, must-see A Million Ways to Die in the West - so I was sort of expecting 'The Orville' to be pretty much all off-the-wall humor like the aforementioned movie. Surprisingly - to me, anyway - there is a lot of serious drama and more than a little social commentary in the mix. So many films and t.v. shows just don't work because the producers don't seem to know whether they're making a drama or a comedy and the whole thing "falls between two chairs", as they say, failing at both. 'The Orville' works, somehow, and works very well...largely, I suspect, because the show's executive producer is Brannon Braga, who was the man in charge of three Star Trek franchises - TNG, Discovery and Enterprise.
