The vehicle, reportedly being chased by police, appeared to turn into oncoming traffic.
A woman in her 50s was being treated by medics in Camden before being taken to hospital by ambulance this evening.
Meanwhile, the driver and passengers fled the scene on foot.
Cops have confirmed one suspect has been arrested.
Witnesses described the BMW attempting to travel the wrong way up the high street before smashing into a bollard in front of the public toilets at around 5.20pm.
An onlooker said: “There was police right behind them. It look like they were chasing them.
“The police did an emergency stop and just chased after them.”
Another said: “I heard a big thud, then I saw two people jump out of the car and they ran past me, running up the high street.
“It seemed like the police were right behind them. On the balance of probabilities, I would say they were in a pursuit.”
Roads are closed and cops have advised motorists to avoid the area.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police began an authorised pursuit of a suspect vehicle at approximately 5.09pm on Thursday November 16 in the Camden area.
“The suspect vehicle was involved in a road traffic collision in Camden High Street at the junction with Greenland Road.
A female pedestrian – believed to be aged in her 50s – was injured in the collision.“She is being treated by colleagues from the London Ambulance Service for suspected injuries to her leg and head.
