How do you warn members to stop behaving like furious teenage girls? Most of the problems on this forum stem from the immaturity of certain members.

Yea, like that's possible when tinted glasses prevents one from seeing all participants in the so called "impersonal and constructive" discussions. My point is how can proposals be given if one of the main reasons for the animosity of the board is being discussed by those most culpable. It speaks to sincerity.

This is something that has always confused me. Why is it that the instigator and the person who responds to instigation are treated the same? Nowhere else in society or law is the kind of standard adhered to. If someone sucker punched you and you punched them back, would you be just as guilty as the person who attacked you? Of course not. The idea that you can only punish an instigator if their victim failed to respond is just nonsensical.
I think both need to be dealt with if both violate rules but that one instigated (trolled) the response should be taken into consideration such that one receives the heavier penalty.

Considering the source of the majority of posts in this thread, the "address the post, not the poster" theme is borderline hysterical. As for the OP's mention of "grudges"...the mind boggles.
I freely admit that I have not lived up to the standards I proposed in the OP. But neither has anyone else on this forum. The entire point of proposing these standards is to make sure that everyone, myself included, is obliged to adhere to them.

It is possible if you stop judging people and instead judge ideas.

Either the proposals are bad or good. I don't see how "sincerity" enters into it.

Then the rules should be changed such that responses are not treated as violations of the rules. Nobody should be expected to take abuse lying down. It's unnatural.
