Arizona has a good reason to hold out. The sooner the sun sets and lets the temperature fall to a more bearable 105 or so the better it is. Before I moved here I thought just switching to the "daylight savings" mode year round was the best idea.

I think if the government has a legitimate reason to track a criminal or terrorist they have legal steps they can take. As for the rest the information is there if they need it. We see all the time where they get a warrant to get phone records that show where a cell phone was used and when it was used and who called it and who they called. And "no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

What is the practical difference between having your phone's signal recorded by a cell tower and having your image recorded by a security camera? If you are in a public place, is it a violation of your personal privacy for a security camera to capture your image, and should the authorities have to obtain a warrant in order to view it?

I still have a land line. This is one of the reasons why; probably the primary reason. I'm a lawyer practicing insurance defense litigation. The odds of me ever being truly concerned about it are slim to none. Yes, I maintain a landline b/c they still actually need a warrant to search it. I understand the legal arguments about why the information is not private. We'll see how the Supremes rule.
