Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

The last vestiges of the pre-modern world in America (and those who know me understand that I do not attach any negative connotations to that term) were destroyed with the antebellum south.

It's funny that this thread hasn't turned into a circus. Quite frankly, I think fascism had its good points so I'm not looking to blame anyone for fascism.

Fascism can't survive in the United States? It has and continues to do so since Woodrow Wilson was president. Its worse practitioners since Wilson were FDR and Obama but every president has support some tenets of the collective. Keep in mind that until it became apparent that Hitler and Mussolini were aspiring to take over all of Europe and were committing Genocide to so so FDR was an ardent admirer of Mussolini. He, like Obama, said he liked Mussolini because he wasn't stopped from doing what the government should be doing (controlling the economy) because he wasn't bound by the Constitution

Fascism has never existed in the US or at least not to any significant extent. Goldberg wrote a cute book but I doubt even he believes the premise. It was written in response to the American left's attempts to characterize the American right as fascist. Goldberg isn't a dumb ass. I suspect he realizes just how silly the whole argument really is,.
