Tidalgate: Climate Alarmists Caught Faking Sea Level Rise

More manipulation of data from the global warmists.

The raw (unadjusted) data from three Indian Ocean gauges – Aden, Karachi and Mumbai – showed that local sea level trends in the last 140 years had been very gently rising, neutral or negative (ie sea levels had fallen).

But after the evidence had been adjusted by tidal records gatekeepers at the global databank Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) it suddenly showed a sharp and dramatic rise.


The whistle was blown by two Australian scientists Dr. Albert Parker and Dr. Clifford Ollier in a paper for Earth Systems and Environment.

It's a giant fraud. This has been known ever since Mann's "hockey stick" was debunked and the charlatans at East Anglia were caught trying to "hide the decline".

It's all about fleecing taxpayers and growing government.

This is simply more confirmation.

Not that it will sway the true believers though. They will find any excuse to rationalize their religion.

To me any report that attaches a policy proposal, or anything closely resembling a political conclusion is inherently suspect. Science like the folks who first started looking at ash leading to glacier melt is fine. Those guys acknowledged that they know precious little about the dynamics of melting ice packs compared to the complexity of the event and more research is needed. They didn't decide, "Oh ice packs are melting due to ash so we must ban forest fires and wood stoves!!!!"

It's not. The climate change crowd believes that falsifying data is honorable in supporting their cause. Their motto is, whatever it takes.

Data is manipulated by organizations and institutions on both "sides" of the debate. Depends on who is financing the research, the researchers, and so on. There are a few somewhat trustworthy institutions that seem to be neutral enough to provide a realistic picture but unfortunately politics gets in the way of research and research integrity. Politics shouldn't be driving scientific research.

The thing is if they were releasing bad science to secretly fund good science, I would say bully for them. Unfortunately it seems that they are pushing bad science to fund more bad science. I mean they act like SUV's are killing the world, when livestock farming and coolants are doing far more damage, but crickets about those from most high-profile studies.

Fair enough.

I remember a while back watching a documentary about drilling for ice samples near the north pole (most samples come from the south) and that it cost an insane amount of money because the passage was only open for about a month per year and then the costs to put a temporary station up for such a small amount of time added to it. I think the geography also made it more complex - I think I remember hearing that it is much harder to get ice samples or that they have to go down much further (something along those lines) making it even more expensive than if they were to do it in the south. So on. Funding for that sort of research would be hard to come by, and I could see researchers exaggerating data and manipulating research to try and get that data. And even if you think climate change is complete bull$#@! (not "you" literally) it is pretty important to get samples not just from the south, but also the north.

I think the researchers were stationed north of Alert Station (Qikiqtaaluk region of Nunavut in Canada - northernmost inhabited place in the world) on the Greenland side of the sea ice.
