It's very interesting. Medina (where I live) is SW of Cleveland and due west of Akron. I can get to my Cleveland office 30 mins and my Akron office in 20. Medina is in the secondary snow belt. The counties due east of Cleveland are the primary snow belt counties. We can get slammed in Medina, have nothing in Akron or Cleveland and then Chardon in Geauga County can have 3 feet of snow. The belt hits us and then sweeps up over the lake, goes around Cleveland and then hits the eastern counties.

4 - 5 inches on the ground now in WNC, locals say 9" by daylight Sat. Couple that with the overnight lows of mid to upper 20s our mountain roads will be treacherous.

I grew up in LaPorte IN....right at the tip of Lake Michigan. I remember 10 ft drifts following lake affect snow. I like it where I'm at now..maybe some snow, maybe not. But nothing like that area from Michigan City to South Bend.................

Just got out of a meeting in Baton Rouge, and they have up to 2" and expecting more. The wieght of the snow is breaking trees.

    It hardly ever snows here.

I saw snow once in my life, as a child in central Fl. Just enough to fill a car window sill. No thanks.

Been sort a fun watching local news concerning the weather. 11pm news last night it was a dusting to 1", 6am this morning it was 2 to 4"s, midmorning it was 4 to 6"s and the noon news it was 6 to 9"s. We have 10"s at the house now at 2:45 and it's still coming down. Figure we'll lose power tonight as the temp drops. This snow is wet & heavy, have already heard branches breaking in the woods. Good times.

I'm originally from up northwest of Chicago. I came down here to get away from snow and ice.
