In 2006 I said that journalism was dead in the US. But it got worse with the "media's" hero worship of The One (Obama). And it got even more worse with the ascendance of Trump to the Presidency. It is the opposite of Obama with the "media." Their deep hatred of the man can be seen in 3 screw-ups in one week.

The media is having a rough week when it comes to reporting on the federal government's multiple ongoing Russia investigations. Three stories in the past seven days have crumbled under greater scrutiny.


Why it matters: In today's hyperpolarized world, "fake news" has become a refrain to describe stories that observers on both sides of the spectrum decide that they don't like. These reporting issues by esteemed media organizations give credence to that ignorance, which further damages the value of insightful, impactful reporting — especially when it comes to one of the biggest, most polarizing stories of our political age: the Russia probe.

I would like to address the article's mention of fake news. This is an example of terms being used in ways that go against their actual meanings. Like how most people use the word fascism.

Fake news is a deliberate attempt to present an actual event in such a way that readers come to an incorrect and planned conclusion about the event. I posted a thread about the anatomy of fake news a while back.
