A problem with these types of stories is that for some people it automatically means they every illegal alien is a criminal or has a criminal background. Truth be told, a major push factor that results in illegal crossing into the United States is that people do not want to get caught up in drugs, gangs or cartels. From Columbia upwards people basically flee in all directions (mostly north) to avoid having to either work for the cartels or having to ignore cartel activity. Some of those people may have a criminal history, but most don't. Common sense can also be applied to illegal immigrants in the United States - the majority are not going to commit crimes to avoid detection. Yeah, there are illegal immigrants with extremely bad backgrounds, but most don't. That doesn't mean they should be allowed to stay in the country but let's not treat them like scum because a minority have committed a crime(s).

No, it doesn't mean that some people think every illegal alien is a felon. It means that securing our borders and controlling immigration is something which should be taken seriously and treated as a national security / safety issue.

I can agree with that, but you can't deny that some people are behaving as though every immigrant is a violent criminal?

Most people understand that all illegals are not criminals. The problem is immigration because some of these illegals have committed more than one crime on different occasions. In my opinion, why aren't these illegals sent back after their first offense so they do not get to do another crime? We should have a no tolerance rule on these cases.

I say we put a chip in all illegals that commit crimes so we can track them.

The question should be: If convicted of a felony why were they still here? We knew they were here illegally and were felons. Why would they not be deported at once? Someone screwed the pooch here.

By mere definition, all illegals ARE criminals, coming here illegally is a crime!
