I have not looked into net neutrality and don't under stand the issue.
I just wish that I could get cable channels a la carte.

It seems that all the big corporate chains support net neutrality. Makes me skeptical to say the least.
You're confusing Net Neutrality with the Fairness Doctrine, which was abolished by the FCC in 1987. The two things have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with one another.
And Hoosier8 - Crepitus is correct; in terms of what you fear, abolishing Net Neutrality would have the effect of giving Internet providers free rein over how well or how poorly, how quickly or how slowly, they provide given content and services - to, in effect, "censor" information, whether to the commercial or political advantage of themselves or others. For good or ill, the Internet has become too important for that to be allowed to happen.
“Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard
"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

The fairness doctrine failed. Then they created the net neutrality thing. The failure of the fairness doctrine was the motivation for net neutrality. I have neither one confused. The net neutrality thing morphed over time.
Getting rid of it will not be of any negative impact.
