Do the collaborators know that we will no longer fight their battels for them on demand? I can imagine a unifying cause in the ME to be a rally cry to get those who sold out to the the imperialist.

This is clearly a scam. Somewhere, a group of people are transferring the profits from this spending into their offshore bank accounts. That's what most spending on war is about, lining the pockets of profiteers. And when there are no wars to profit from? Why, just make some! It's really not that hard to do. Just send out the agent provocateurs and set the propaganda machine to full volume and watch as the sweet profits materialize!
