A convict that is not on death row should be given the option for job training and spiritual counseling with an option of being released with full human rights IMO. I know too many fine humans that have served their time and have become good citizens that have been hamstrung for past crimes needlessly.

Alternatively, white felons can post on TPF and have white righteous liberals, attack them, 20 years later!

The inmates actually were very good with us, even the women law students. They knew we were there to advocate for them.

At Tulane we had to do 50 hours of community service and travel time counted. That is why I picked Angola. But I ended up doing over 200 hours.

The first client that I had was a massive black guy who murdered his wife. Before I knew it I was in a room alone with him and I looked at pen on the table for the representation agreement and said in my head, $#@! - this dude could stab me in the eye with that.

I was amazed at how good the prisoners were.

He would be special stupid to attack you, most inmates are $#@! ups, not crazy.

I was a Rec Orderly in north Fl, Officer "smith" had me draw up a Christian Desk calender (years ago) I got locked in a back room to eat a steak dinner.

That good man would never traffic contraband, regretfully I suspect he is dead now, he was elderly and this was 2006.

Most inmates just make stupid mistakes in life, maybe 20% really need to be there for the good of society.

The sad part is, the sociopathic types that need to be there, run free. Some even post on the net.

The people I met in prison were better people than some outside of prison.
