Iran CIVIL WAR brewing: Fury at ‘corrupt’ regime – ‘they make us poorer every day’

Iran CIVIL WAR brewing: Fury at ‘corrupt’ regime – ‘they make us poorer every day’

I am gong to have to start paying attention to Iran's internal affairs. Things are heating up.

With prices spiralling and President Hassan Rouhani at loggerheads with US opposite number Donald Trump, things got even worse this week with the reimposition of tough economic sanctions aimed at further undermining the Islamic fundamentalist republic.

Measures which target cars, gold and other metals trading, as well as the government’s ability to buy US dollars, came into force today.

The US has acted after Mr Trump pulled out of the JPCA nuclear agreement earlier this year, the deal which eased sanctions against Iran in exchange for no longer embarking on nuclear weapons development.

The Iranian rial has lost half of its value against the US dollar on the unofficial market this year, while the price of fruit and vegetables has increased by 50 percent since the start of the year.

    ****

The commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari has acknowledged the gravity of the situation, declaring that “domestic weaknesses and threats are more serious” than the foreign military threat posed by the US or other countries.

Based on polling data of Iranians, a majority of them do not want to see fundamental changes to their political system. So I suspect, as is often the case inside a country that has been deemed an enemy by western powers, any uprising or civil unrest will comprise a small minority of the population who are receiving clandestine support from western intelligence agencies seeking to destabilize Iran. Simply put, this is just another artificial protest movement being backed by western powers looking to effectuate another "regime change" inside a Middle Eastern country. They failed in Syria and so now they're moving on to Iran and probably Lebanon. It's just like Wesley Clark said after 9/11.

I imagine many nations have operations going on inside Iran to sow discontent.

    Unquestionably.

At least this time they will have some basis for characterizing the rebels as moderates. Unlike in Syria, the Iranian opposition consists mostly of young people who are growing increasingly discontented with the theocratic elements of Iran's political system. Unfortunately, these naive young Iranians do not realize that they're just being used as fodder for foreign intelligence agencies who want a pretext to start invading and bombing Iran.

I haven't looked into it lately, but in the last civil unrest the urban centers were seeking change while the rural people supported the regime.

That seems to be the pattern everywhere. Urban areas tend to be populated by those who seek change and rural areas tend to be more conservative and religious.

Iran has a very large young demographic that is looking for change. Youth in urban areas push the boundaries of what's acceptable under the regime and many embrace western culture in the way they dress, act, date etc... There is a lot of desire for change and a young population that could make it happen. Unfortunately that would probably require a violent conflict of some kind.

Who cares about Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and....?

"The U.S. government has traced some of the $1.7 billion released to Iran by the Obama administration to Iranian-backed terrorists in the two years since the cash was transferred."

"Issued by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the report claims the IRGC has set up at least 14 terrorist training camps across Iran to teach foreign fighters terrorist tactics. According to the report, fighters are streaming in from Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, all countries where Iran has expanded interests."

Lame attempt at making a comparison between America's urbanites and rural folk, and Iran's. American conservatives support smaller government, while American libs support big government. You have it exactly backwards. But you already knew that.
