    First World Problems

First World problems (plural noun): a relatively trivial or minor problem or frustration (implying a contrast with serious problems such as those that may be experienced in the developing world)

With all the extra food we lay in for the Holiday meals, plus the leftovers, etc., both the kitchen fridge and the one out in the garage are just about filled to capacity. I was looking for a place in either one to put something away the other night, and I complained to my wife, "Both fridges are full - I can't find anywhere to put this". Then I stopped and thought, "That may very well be THE ultimate First World Problem".
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

I read not long ago that americans throw away more food than some countries have to start with. We overindulge and its because we have it and have always had it.

Yet having said that there are still Americans that are hungry and need food. I mention the homeless alot, its a sticking point with me. How can this country have homeless or allow it to go on endlessly.

I read papers and blogs daily and if they even mention homelessnes its in passing.

I donate to three organizations, a local food bank that I KNOW does great things and feeds homeless and the local animal shelter who also does great things and to two combat veteran organizations.

I have been promoting a more moderate dinner be prepared for Holidays for years to no avail. The amount of left-overs that are eventually wasted is a shame. We had enough food for thirty even though we had just ten for Christmas dinner.

    1. Americans have lost the ability to understand portion control- and that starts with shopping for food.

    2. In many places local ordinances prohibit donating left overs to the poor. Which I think is insane.

Well, pretty easily. A lot of people do nothing to help because they believe the homeless deserve their plight because they are immoral or lazy.

Many of them are to be quite frank about it. Many of them are also mental.

Most homeless people live in cities controlled by Democrats. Must be a coincidence.
