In fairness to The Donald, isn't The Obama's chart really a false equivalency? Didn't it really take a pelosi right before he took office so it going up a lot meant we were recovering what we falsely lost due to that panic?

That is what I mean by the chart being slices in time separated from what came before. The market's rise while Obama was President followed the Great Recession and was largely recovery, even more so for FDR following the depression.

Crep, I honestly don't know enough about it, I just remember it had dumped massively right before and right after he took over so it was way low to begin with and then shortly after started its upward climb. I have long believed that if they left well enough alone it'd have all recovered fuller without all of the regulatory handcuffs. I just remember it being very low in march or april, having dumped twice in that short timeframe, so in my mind it was a false low brought about by emotional economic panic.

If you highlight the Obama line you will see that the market was actually still in free fall when he took over, dropping almost 20 points below his baseline zero before beginning an upward trend. If we used the low point as the zero he would have outperformed everyone on the chart.

The problem here is the market recovered, the market rose, the market performed.

My broker is telling me that a correction is coming -- 15% give or take -- according to their prognosticators. He thinks that we should move some gains to the sidelines and be prepared to jump back in.
