Exactly! And we need those people! Many of them are quite brilliant and just need a place where they can shine. It's always been that way in the USA, and why I have always been proud of it. Now, we have people who want to stop that, and I will never agree to that.

A lot of my family came here after WWI. Some right before WW2 from Germany and Romania, which were terrible places at the time.

People don't make the drastic decision to move thousands of miles away from kith and kin on a lark or for a slightly better lifestyle. Moving somewhere in which you don't speak the language and have no cultural connection is difficult especially if you are poor. You are essentially saying goodbye to your family, some of whom you may never see again. Some people have a very odd impression of why people choose to immigrate.
