Pew: US media bias ranks worst in the world

They are worst in the world because the truth never escapes their lieing lips

Americans on both sides of the political aisle believe the media does a poor job covering political issues fairly, according to a blockbuster new survey of media consumption in 38 nations.
What’s more, the Pew Research Center’s study found that supporters of President Trump believe the media is doing a worse job covering politics than the supporters of any of the other international political leaders in countries surveyed.

“Large gaps in ratings of the media emerge between governing party supporters and non-supporters. On the question of whether their news media cover political issues fairly, for example, partisan differences appear in 20 of the 38 countries surveyed. In five countries, the gap is at least 20 percentage points, with the largest by far in the U.S. at 34 percentage points,” said Pew.
The survey found that just 21 percent of Americans supportive of Trump and Republicans believe the media is fair. Some 55 percent of those who don’t back Trump also believe the media is fairly covering politics in the U.S.
In every other case, those numbers are flipped, said Pew.
“The U.S. is also one of only a few countries where governing party supporters are less satisfied with their news media than are non-supporters. In most countries, people who support the political party currently in power are more satisfied with the performance of their news media than those who do not support the governing party,” said the study.

It is what it is. Unless it is breaking news with live coverage and no time for them to do "analysis" I tend to take it all with a grain of salt. I prefer long-form printed articles from a variety of sources.

I just accept the media is what it is. They are too co-dependent on outside sources after having purged their ranks of actual reporters in favor of paying high dollar salaries to their stable of commentators/interview folks. I first noticed it when Katie Couric took over at CBS. CBS News was the network I grew up on. My parents only watched it and their parents only watched it. Along comes Katie and they have to gut their staff to pay for her and I haven't watched it since. Now they all have their niche markets I suppose. I just happen to be in none of them. I did watch PBS's new shows the most regularly but they have gotten just as bad so I don't even do that any more. Twitter is my primary news source for developing stories, and I follow maybe 20-25 inside the industry type people at the moment who regularly post quality content on subjects that interest me from their fields. None of them are reporters/"journalists"/commentators that work for any particular news outfit. I also follow about as many people who are more academic along the same lines.

It was ranked based on the perception of the public. I can think of like 20 countries where opposition to the government prevents any coverage that is actually accurate and not state-sponsored.

Seems like Pew is having a drama queen moment, or something.

The problem is? the people don't trust the Media at all, and this makes it very hard for Progressives

Now when I say progressives remember there are Progressives in both parties and they make up the vast majority of the people that we elect.

They don't have a message or a plan, Progressives are in government for power. So they only support things that brings more power to DC, and themselves.

So when people break free of those chains, they are not likely to go back, and because they don't believe the lies of the media? Well that is the panic that you see from progressive in DC

I love how the left keeps trying to pretend people are going to suddenly start believing their "polls" again....

Objective reporting went out the window in the 1980's when radio/television/print corporations started being run by accounts and lawyers, the focus being on making money and all else being secondary.

Nothing has changed fundamentally since then except that today's internet based news organizations are for the most part strictly partisan.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.
