    Cash

Does anyone else here like to keep a stash of cash around? I have bank accounts and a bunch of credit cards, but, for some reason, I like to have cold, hard cash at my disposal. Sure, one can always run to an ATM and pull some out, but the banks generally limit your daily ATM withdrawals. I like the freedom and anonymity of cash. I like the bargaining power of cash. Anyone else share this first-world malady?

Cash is a better bargaining tool for yard sales and swap meets also.

I always keep a few grand in my safe, and usually $100 or so in my wallet. Cash is harder to track.

I always keep cash in my safe and desk at the office, and usually $100 or so in my pocket. I hate going anywhere without cash in my pocket. You never know what will happen.

I almost never have cash on hand unless I am going some place that doesn't accept plastic or am paying someone with a wink and a nod to get a discount. My hair cutting wench only takes cash and my mechanic and tree guy don't charge me nearly so much if I don't need a receipt/proof I paid them. I do have a safe I keep some cash in at work, but I seldom have more that $1K in it at a time, often less. My dad was a cash hoarder until one of my nephews started helping himself to it which was the thing I warned him was going to happen and why I don't carry cash. Can't be robbed/bummed out of something you don't have.

I keep roughly one month's worth of cash on hand in small bills and coin. I keep it, along with a weapon and plenty of ammunition in a go-bag. It is around 12K but I will build it to 15K. If something bad happens I will use it to buy the things the emergency requires before people wise up and stop taking cash. I also have a couple of 15K limit credit cards. I will start with those.

I like to have a little in my pocket and not use a card for doughnut and coffee, but as much as I distrust banks and the government I think any large amount of money is safer there than "under the mattress"
