Yeah and appartently if a reciever is "defenseless" you can't even accidently hit his head with firearm. /yet if his feet are planted there are times when you can go head to head! How exactly are you supposed to "defend" against that? We must remember sports is a big business and stories sell
Was cheering for the Vikings against Saints. So when the Saints kicked that go ahead field goal with 25 seconds left, i turned off the television in disgust.
Didn't stumble onto "the rest of the story" until i was reading my daily newspaper this morning.
*shakes head*
Well then they suddenly got stupid a decade or so ago when they changed the entire way they call the passing game. The issue may or may not be corruption. It may be about parady in some cases. But they'll let a blatant defensive hold go ( I'm talking about one righ in front of the official) then call a minor one on the same player in the fourth quater . It could be about more time for commercials for all I know. But I've even seen NY confirm or refuse to reverse some absolutely horrible calls this year including "confirming an incomplete pass" after a reciever grabbed the ball, took two long steps and made a football move before he fumbled. Which is what he did. Two way pass interference has become the norm in the long passing game . Half a beat early is now " perfect timing" and many one handed catches occur because the defensive back has a hold of the other hand and you don't get called for pushing off 95% of the time. t
All I know for sure is that the game is being called very, very differently in the past 10-15 years in areas where the rules have changed little and that the focus is on over turning as few calls as possible which begs the question: Why bother with instant replay at all? It waste time, kills rythym and changes momentum
