Anyway, I'm not sure why little PP decided to revive a thread that's been inactive for over three years just to take a shot at me, and in a way that had nothing to do with the actual thread topic, but I suppose we could use this an opportunity to return to what was a pretty good discussion.
In rereading the thread, I notice the recurrent theme among opponents of natural law goes something like this: Because tyrants frequently ignore or violate the principles of natural law, that somehow implies that natural law is not "real" or something. It's a rather peculiar argument that is difficult to fully understand. The truthfulness or legitimacy of a theory doesn't depend on who acknowledges the theory. Every day, women are raped by rapists. Does this prove that there is no right not to be raped? Of course not. As usual, I think Jefferson summed it up best when he said: The god who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.
--John Adams
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.
