Any team can win when the refs are on their side.

Here's the thing. With little if any rule change the NFL has allowed the passing game to deteriorate into a wrestling match.. Lots of contact that used to be flagged occurs on damn near every pass play. Pass fouls are so huge,, fisrt downs even if it's 4th and 40 and PI at the spot of the foul could be fifty yards or offensive PI can wipe out a 40 yard play. So when the ref suddenly calls what he's ignored all game , just one or two calls can turn the game. It's not like they are just not calling questionable fouls, there is no consistency to it at all. To myself and my family it is ruining the game much faster than players taking a knee.
The rules favor the offense. Most defensive penalties give an offense an automatic first down. Off the top of my head I can only think of only one penalty in which an offense forfeits a down and that's intentional grounding. There might be more.
Defensive holding gives the offense an automatic first down. Offensive holding they replay the down. Defensive pass interference results in an automatic first down. Offensive interference they replay the down. There are several more examples.
I didn't see any bias in the officiating in either game yesterday.

I didn't see that. In fact in the Pats game I saw sevreral iffy calls going against the Patriots. I saw calls which could have gone either way go against the Pats. There was no visible bias.
The ref in question was not celebrating. He was smiling while separating patriots players from a Jacksonville player when the pats were celebrating.

It's deeper than one or two games tally. It's the level of contact they allow of almost every pass play and then the flags start flying when the game is on the line.. As you said one defensive hold can turn a game if they ignore it all day and start calling it late, even more so.. it is usually a penalty when they call it but it was all game long when they didn't. 15 years ago a DB "getting their half a beat early" was a penalty , now it's "great timing". The passing game is more WWF than NFL these days.
