Ohio Lawyer suspended for demanding settlements for non-existent clients

Lawyer Suspended for Demanding Settlements for Nonexistent Clients While Under Suspension

The Ohio Supreme Court has indefinitely suspended a Cleveland attorney who sent “demand letters” to various businesses threatening to file civil rights complaints against them and offering to settle those claims on behalf of his nonexistent clients for $500. I have defended many many cases where there's been no injury. I have defended a case where a guy sued himself. This takes the case -- cases with no actual claimants.

Wow thats a desperation move, kind of hard to believe a lawyer would put himself in that position. Seems like a guaranteed bust to me. How the hell could he get away with that

Sounds like a good old fashioned mafia protection racket. Why no criminal proceedings?

A guy sued himself? Wow, if not for ethics I'd like to hear that one.
