(That's 55 years for you little fellas out there.) Nassar will not start serving for the State conviction until he has completed the Federal sentence.
@pragmatic, spoken as a pragmatist; and, entirely accurate. He's not going anywhere, ever. Let's just make sure that we comply with due process.

A devout Catholic is not exactly someone i would call a moral relativist. I just find it amusing that the very same people (they shall remain nameless) who insist morality is relative are the most incensed over this man's actions and the most supportive of this judge. It's bizarre.

If it is within the guidelines, but it was a smidgen one way or the other by a freckle or two and she showed a lack of impartiality (which she did) then it's a problem. He'd be re-sentenced in an unemotional way.
So...he was given a fair trial, his sentencing was within the guidelines...how is he not getting due process?

I wouldn't call it a show trial because that term suggests the defendant is being railroaded but I understand what you mean. I think it's rather obvious.

I watched some of the ABC 20/20 show this evening and it was sickening. So many beautiful young women emotionally scarred by the pervert. They found 4 hard drives in his trash with child porn on them. Wow.

I don't think she overstepped. If a cop lectured somebody like that, I would say yes, but this is a judge. Her job is to dispense justice for the state. Once the verdict was reached, if the sentence was within the state's sentencing guidelines, I don't see a problem with her lecturing him and expressing outrage on behalf of those those he victimized.
