Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

That being said it amazes me that their are some here who are more interested in personally insulting people then discussing/debating the issues. It's one thing to lively debate but to bring it down to a level where it becomes a verbal slugfest where insults become paramount over the thread topic only brings down the quality of the forum & hence we lose people who might have otherwise stayed. Those who become frustrated and vent in the forum need to step away for perhaps an hour or two or even perhaps a day or so if need be. And some will try to bait you; don't take the bait, if necessary put them on your ignore list instead of dignifying their insults with a response. There are ways to make this a better forum that will attract quality posters; that's what we all should be striving for here.
I think the bigger picture is the notion that there are a good number here that actually considered resister a good poster, but in the same breath have the audacity to call others a troll. That is the disconnect that plagues this forum and will continue because those that don't like differences in ideology clouds their judgement and impartiality.

    Enjoy it.

Bethere finally banned might have been the best. Resister will be missed. Got to take the bad with the good.

IMHO, it was a tit-for-tat decision. Had to take out a member from each faction to appear even-handed.

I will say he was a good poster, one of the better posters on the forum. He was a far better poster than some who are still here, including at least one "adviser". The forum will not be a better place without him. It will in fact, be less than it was.

Agree. His main fault was reacting to trolls, some of whom are still here.

But when other posters who are liked by the vast majority of the members break the rules and are banned, that also causes problems.

There has always been a push for the mods to be neutral and balanced. That creates the impossible choice, as demonstrated with this thread.

Some people who violate the rules are asses. Some who violate the rules are just frustrated with other members or moderation. They should not be treated the same. Each case should be treated separately with no cookie cutter solution.

    Think about it.

Exactly. The expectation has always been that the mods when moderating remain neutral politically. Somehow that has become neutrality more generally such that it's no longer the case that they figure out who started a fight and who is reacting defensively and moderate the former more heavily than the latter. Bethere was a lousy troll and resister reacted and both got banned---I'm sure there's more to it, more trolls and more reactions, but that's the impression I get.

I really have little faith in moderation here as it takes three days for even the simplest crap to get reviewed.
It's been suggested in Town Halls that mods ease off their team moderation policy and allow a single mod to at least step in and issue warnings that can later be reviewed by the team and adjusted as needed. Never heard back on that suggestion.

On the call out, well, they're not members now and it was announced at least one was a troll.

Agree. But there are those who see personal pugilistics as the purpose of a forum and who just cannot distinguish post from poster. Not sure if moderation should be completely neutral about that. In the end though all you can do is try to contribute to discussion and change yourself if you're not.
