Call your provider and ask for a retention specialist. Odds are your contract ran out and they jack the price up so you will call and agree to another however year contract. Comcast does that religiously.
My understanding is that part of the cable increases is because ESPN is upping their per viewer licensing fee to providers to offset losses due to viewership and advertising money cratering. Whether people boycott them or not, they still have to pay for them and they are the most expensive channel on cable systems, fetching something like $6/month/subscriber whether people watch or not.
About a year ago Brighthouse was bought out, I had no premium channels just high Def phone and internet, I paid 156.00 a month. Right after spectrum took over they sent a letter to everyone saying that Bright House promotions and discounts were no longer in affect and that they were tiering the service, they put me in a tier 3 and I lost most all the channels that I watched, if i wanted them back I had to pay for tier 1 an additonal 30.00 a month. They wanted to raise my bill to 244.00
To make it short I switched to direct tv, disconntected my phone and internet and had my wife call and put it back in her name which gave us a 2 yr spectrum discount.
I pay 129.00 a month have far more channels and Im very happy.

I cut cable years ago and don’t regret it. All I get now is internet and the various streaming services, so I can watch virtually anything I want for way less than cable.
