Say something nice...

[Common Sense]

Things have a tendency to get heated here and arguments escalate. The current political climate certainly doesn't help. I'm certainly not innocent.

That being said, I think in the real world most of us would get along. Unfortunately here we deal in hyperbole and hyper partisan issues and we tend focus on the things that we disagree with rather than the things we have in common or aspects of our political rivals we like or respect.

I really dont hate anyone here. In fact there are things I respect about even those I argue with the most.

So after all that blah blah blah...I'd like to say something nice about some of the people I argue with and piss off. Maybe others will do the same.

He's very passionate and intelligent. He really stands by his convictions and doesn't succumb to group think. I would characterize him as a strong individual with strong opinions.

It's a nice sentiment, but I don't think saying nice things about each other will change much about how we relate to one another. The discord we observe is a consequence of ingrained features that will persist into foreseeable future.

But even though I see it as a futile exercise, I will say something nice.

Common Sense, when he is making an effort to be civil, is someone I enjoy debating and discussing issues with, even if we disagree. And as I've said many times before, I love Canada. As far as I'm concerned, Canada is our closest and best ally.
