That homemade Italian wine is pretty potent stuff. I've had it a few times. Very dry and you shouldn't drink it on an empty stomach. I have one friend whose father still makes it, but probably not for much longer. That generation is either dying off or getting too old to make it anymore. It's kind of like making tomato sauce during the harvest season. The younger generation isn't all that into it.

It is bitter and creates the "dry" to the wine. It is why you have to be more careful when cooking with red wine. Reduce it too much and it is pure bitter in your dish.

I find myself spending more on tea. I'll pay $20 to $30 for an ounce or two of lui-an or pu-erh (varieties of aged tea). I only drink it on the weekends. I get my money's worth though. It's an enjoyable experience and I can get up to 4 infusions out of an aged tea. For example, today I drank a lui-an from the 1980s and it drank it all day. I infused the serving I had with breakfast 4 times. The 4th serving was a little watery but it still held up reasonably well. Now wine I'm like Common. I won't pay more than $15 for a bottle of wine.

    I ferment my own.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.
