I agree. The question is: what can we do to make the consumption of those items unacceptable? What about future generations? Kids that are born after drugs are legalized, will grow up thinking that it can't be all that bad if it's legal.

Sorry, but that's not the kind of country in which I wish to live.
I think Glenn Beck is well known as a conservative, is he not? I haven't been listening to him for a couple of years now but I used to listen and one day he said something that kind of surprised me and made me think. I may not have the exact word-for-word quote but this is the essence of what he said: "Whenever people don't do the right things for themselves, government eventually does it for them."

He didn't give any specifics that I recall, but I thought of a possibility on my own. Could that be the reason we have Social Security?

Certain countries may say that drug decriminalization works well but they may also say that Universal Health Care works well. We know that Universal Health Care doesn't work well, so why would we believe them when they say that drug decriminalization works well?

I read an article several years ago about Social Security. In the past when most Americans lived in multi-generational families, family members were care for their elderly family. As Americans moved to cities this type of family became less common. Social Security was designed to take the place of the family care-provider.

Glenn Beck is a well known nutjob. I think he'd act the role of a Liberal if there was more money in it.

No doubt he lifted a lot of old truisms and rephrased them to call his own.

Drugs are never fully safe, neither are many hobbies, driving 75MPH or pissing off your wife.
