Both portraits are just plain silly, but it's fitting for 0bama to be sitting in a weed patch, probably wanting to toke a leaf or two.

But totally ridiculous, so YES, they look just like them.

Obama’s Portrait Painter Known For Flowery Paintings of Black Women Decapitating White Women.....

On Monday, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery hosted a ceremonial unveiling of former President Obama’s official presidential portrait. An official portrait of Michelle Obama was also revealed at the same event.

Kehinde Wiley, the artist behind Obama’s portrait, is not some run-of-the-mill painter, however. His best known works all place a strong emphasis on promoting an ideal of empowered black men and women, frequently including regal or aristocratic imagery and floral or naturalistic background designs. Two such paintings have come into sharp focus today because of their depictions of black women holding bloody knives and the severed heads of white women:

Both paintings depict a reimagining of traditional European paintings of the Biblical character Judith beheading the Assyrian general Holofernes, except Wiley changed Judith into a black woman and Holofernes into a white woman.

Wiley's official website prominently displays the artist posing in front of one of the beheading paintings in a photograph presumably taken in his studio:

The other painting can be found under Wiley's 2012 collection titled "An Economy of Grace" and was described by the artist himself as a "play on the ‘kill whitey’ thing." A description of the painting from the North Carolina Museum of Art's official blog makes clear that Wiley's conscious intention was to create a work that glorified the image of a black woman holding power over a white woman by killing her.

If anyone was in doubt about Obama's extreme political leanings before, hopefully his choice of Wiley to paint his official portrait clarifies the matter for good......snip~

Of course; an anti-white racist, long on hatred, short on talent. His paint-by-numbers renderings are quite appropriate for the arrogant, tacky Obamas...

True. The artist didn't capture her face properly.

Why do you hate biblically inspired paintings? Judith decapitating Holofornes isn't acceptable to you?

Only for the Obama's or all the Presidents and First Ladies? Since they're paid for by private donations, it's not an issue for me.

    Correct. http://time.com/5140261/official-pre...raits-history/
On Monday, the National Portrait Gallery unveiled portraits of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama painted by, respectively, Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald. The new paintings will be part of the exhibit America’s Presidents at the National Portrait Gallery, the only place outside the White House with a complete collection of presidential portraits from George Washington to Barack Obama.
The earliest presidential portraits sometimes served as the only images of the president....

....Through the early 20th century, the funds for official portraits mostly came from Congress, White House Historical Association curators said in a recent podcast. In more recent history, the money has come from private donations, usually raised by the National Portrait Gallery. (The White House Historical Association has also raised private funds for portraits, but that’s a separate operation.)

The National Portrait Gallery commissioning process used for the Obama portrait is fairly recent, and was only set up towards the end of George H.W. Bush’s term. Since then, the National Portrait Gallery has suggested contemporary artists, and the President will choose one, says Lemay.
Funding for First Ladies’ portraits wouldn’t exist until the 1960s, when First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy founded the White House Historical Association. Before that, First Ladies may have arranged to have their own portraits done, or like-minded interest groups would pay for them. For instance, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union paid for the portrait of Rutherford B. Hayes’s First Lady Lucy Hayes because she didn’t allow alcohol in the White House. The commissioning process set up for George H.W. Bush’s portrait has applied to First Ladies too, beginning with Hillary Clinton.

Actually, there are photographs of Michelle that don't look much like we are used to seeing her:

We usually see her face more animated, so perhaps the portrait is not quite as far off as we might think.
