In Anti-Gun Fever, Media Misses Some Crucial Facts

Gun control advocates often bank on scaring people into supporting their agenda. That’s how they’re fighting a “reciprocity” bill that requires concealed handgun permits to be honored in all 50 states — just like driver’s licenses. The scaremongering was on full display last Sunday, in CBS News’ “60 Minutes” lead segment by Steve Kroft on the dangers of concealed carry.
It comes at a strange time considering Wednesday’s Florida high schoolattack, where 17 people died in a “gun-free” zone. For that matter, all mass public shootings in Florida have been in places where general citizens weren’t allowed to defend themselves, and since 1950, over 98 percent of mass public shootings in the U.S. have occurred in these gun-free zones.
In November, the House of Representatives passed the reciprocity bill by a 231 to 199 vote. Senate Democrats are pledging to filibuster it, and Fox News reported that Democratic leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), would give “his blessing only for a handful of vulnerable lawmakers to support it.”

Progressives generally push the point that a disarmed society would be a crime-free society. They believe in a utopia that has only blue skies and unicorns. Being gun less society does not increase a person's safety, it puts a person's safety at risk. On a grand scale it reduces the risk criminals face from the public they prey upon, and places a significant burden on the rest of society. A person who chooses to remain gun less unwittingly contributes to making crime easier for criminals. They will not accept the truth that if you take all the guns off the street you still will have a crime problem, whereas if you take the criminals off the street you cannot have a gun problem. Take for example Norway, England and Japan. This is not about Gun-Control, it's all about People Control.
Meanwhile a look at Parkland Florida's School system is revealing and say's quite a bit as to how Nikolas Cruz fell through the cracks and was never busted at school.
Broward County's new NAACP collaborative discipline policy is absurd:
COLLABORATIVE AGREEMENT ON SCHOOL DISCIPLINE THIS AGREEMENT
    http://www.ncjfcj.org/sites/default...tive Agreement on School Discipline - MOU.pdf
That’s the link to Broward County’s School Discipline ‘Agreement” and it’s signed by the Sheriff, State Atty, local judges and the NAACP.
On page 29 it outlines how various behaviors will NOT result in suspension or expulsion. Instead they receive warnings, lectures and possible detentions.
    These infractions include:
All student misbehavior and these non-violent infractions:
Disrupting or Interfering with class or school functions
Affray - fighting in a public place
    Theft if less than $300
    Vandalism if damages under $1,000
    Disorderly conduct
    Trespassing
    Criminal Mischief
    Gambling
    Loitering
    Prowling
    Harassment
    Alcohol -all related offenses
    Possession of Cannabis
    Drug Paraphernalia
    Threats
    Obstructing Justice w/out Violence

Hmm... if I'm not mistaken Trayvon Martin also was resident and a product of this system. It makes you wonder how many other teens have fallen through cracks because of this "Agreement".

7 Simple Steps to Eliminate School Shootings Overnight .....

In 2017, with 300,000,000-plus guns in the hands of Americans, there were 15,549 gun deaths. This ranks less than half the number of automobile deaths even though there are fewer cars in existence than guns. In 2017, there were 253,000,000 cars in existence and 41,000 auto deaths.

Nonetheless, the rhetoric is so loud and the anger so tightly wound that a way forward needs to begin. Genuinely good people on both sides of this issue disagree. Pro-gun people believe that owning a gun is one step of many in helping to keep their families safe and their government from becoming too tyrannical. Anti-gun people believe that the mere existence of a gun is a danger to all. But note that both sets of people desire safety in general.

With very little expertise, but with a robust research ability, my staff and I began looking at this issue this week from the perspective of what could be done that would be tangible, but also acceptable to both sides of the discussion. Here’s seven simple steps that can and should be implemented overnight across the country and in similar fashion school shootings would be eliminated. This list is not exhaustive but is a starting point where good-willed people can come together to make a significant difference now.

    1. Metal Detectors In Every School:
    2. Enforce Everything:
    3. Perform Active Shooter Drills:
    4. Reinforce Doors, Windows, Buses, Locks:
    5. Recruit Retired Military & Law Enforcement:
    6. Arm All Appropriate Personnel:
    7. Publicize Consequence:

None of these steps infringe upon law-abiding people’s Second Amendment rights.

All of these steps attempt to stop and engage mentally ill or deliberately belligerent attackers.

This list would make an immediate impact on every school that adopts them.

No common sense American can deny their effectiveness.

Our kids are worth it! .....snip~
