He was an authoritarian who, like many back then, believed science and technology could be used to not just centrally plan economies but every aspect of human life--hence Marxism in Europe and Progressivism in American.

The poor in this day and age are either disabled or lazy. There is no excuse for people to be poor these days otherwise.

The great majority of liberals are no more socialists than the average conservative is. In fact, I don't know that I've ever personally known anyone who advocated socialism. Accusing most liberals of being socialists, based on what they advocate or the causes they support, makes no logical sense. Racial, religious and gender equality? Reproductive freedom? Drug legalization? Assisted suicide? What do those things have to do, in any way, with being anti-capitalistic?

Single payer,welfare, food stamps,free college, preferred hiring and etc. Sounds socialist to me.
