The machine at the gym read 8.4% but I don't know how accurate it is. Pretty damn good for a 42 year old man.

That is why I have been buying fresh lemons and making my own.
The stuff I buy has nothing in it but natural flavor and carbonated reverse osmosis water. There is no artificial sweetners in it. It is not sweet at all you get a hint of lemon lime.

I do and I used to more often buy carbonated water and just add lime to it.

A friend of mine gave me an idea just yesterday, he said buy that machine that carbonates water just dont put in soda packets just lime or lemon juice. Im going to look how m uch they are that may be the way to go

Some of those can be off a bit, but the margin of error wouldn't be anything crazy. You're probably 10% at the most, and at best 8.4% is an accurate rating.

I gained a few pounds of muscle since then. I've been eating more protein for the last few months and lifting more weights. Working hard on my abs too.

You're a runner who keeps his weight low, so it's not surprising that with upped calories and strength training you'd gain muscle.

Cool, just figured I would warn you in case you hadn't checked beyond the label.

I have been looking at that machine myself, but can't act until work picks up again... getting towards the end of my savings for winter.

I feel great. Best shape of my life. What's great (and I'm sure you've experienced the same thing) is that I don't usually have to force myself to exercise. I enjoy it. It's just part of my day,

That's all that keeps me sane sometimes, lol.

Well, three weeks ago yesterday, I finally decided on drastic measures. Mind you, I started it right in the middle of an unexpected busy stretch at work, which helped on the exercise part (swimming in several pools each day), but it has died back down now for a few weeks, and I am getting back into planks and the ab roller.

I am 40 years old and 6”4, so normal is between 151 and 201 lbs. I was at 230, with a goal of 160-165. As of tonight, I am down to 207 (and holding for the past 2 days) and have lost 2 1/2 inches from my belly.

As far as diet, I have completely cut out soda (I drank way too much of it) and any other sugary drinks. Just water, lemon water and unsweetened tea. I cut out all potatoes, rice, bread and pasta. Instead, I have been eating a lot of chicken breast, tuna, eggs and plenty of fresh veggies. It took a bit of getting used to, and admittedly I have had a few spells of being lightheaded, or lacking motivation ( not energy, just getting started on things), but I am figuring out how to fix that within the diet. I am also proud that I have not cheated, nor even once.

Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone else has tried the Keto diet, which is basically what I am doing, and how it worked for you.

151 lbs is normal for a man 6'4"? I'm 6 feet even and 180 and I'm slender and fairly lean. The 150's thru 160's would make you a stick man.

    [QUOTE=Ravens Fan;2308214][QUOTE=Mister D;2307893]A 6'4" I think you would look emaciated at 151. I'm 5'7" and 135.

I stuck at 165 for years, regardless of what I ate, and was pretty happy there. I have thought about going as low as 150 before starting back on normal food, incase I have issues with controlling it, but dont want to look Ethiopian either, lol.

Yes, the sodas were huge. I never realized just how bad a sugar addiction can be, complete with withdraw and cravings. I have never liked lemon water or tea without sugar, but after 2 weeks of nothing but water, it actually doesn't taste too bad. On this diet, I am staying away from grains all together, but legumes are listed as being really good for you. I have never tried them though, and can be a picky eater.
Damn, sodas are like eating bags full of sugar and don't go to diet because they make your body believe that they are getting sugar, with the same effect.

You're a big guy and you can't do just protein and vegetables for long before your energy levels drop and you start looking like a concentration camp survivor. Believe me, I've seen it many times in my hubby's family. Change your carbs to complex carbs that don't convert to sugar as fast as you eat them. If you are going to eat simple carbs, eat them in the morning so that you are likely to use them before they convert.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.
