Border Union: Trump’s Border Wall Is a ‘Brilliant’ ‘Business Strategy’ to Save Taxpayers Billions

Unions are starting to realize democrats shaft them, Clintons Nafta that he rammed through and Obama trying to pass another nafta and ignoring the working class.

Trumka head of the AFLCIO who was always staunchly against GOP Praised trump for his tariffs and said they will save american jobs, so did the Steel Industry union head and the Coal. Now we have the border patrol union praising Your President Mr Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall on the southern U.S. border is a “business strategy” – and it’s a “brilliant” one – the president of the Border Patrol Union says.

In a Fox News interview on Wednesday, union President Brandon Judd said that Trump’s wall won’t just keep Americans safe – it’ll also save taxpayers money and pay for itself with those savings. Judd explained that, in interviews, illegal aliens apprehended by the Border Patrol admit that they’re breaking into the U.S. to take advantage of its generous social programs:
“When we arrest people, we interview them and we ask them why are you coming to the United States? The vast majority of those individuals we arrest, they tell us they’re coming here for jobs, they’re telling us they’re coming here for the social programs – and they’re telling us they’re coming here because they know they’re going to be released if they claim asylum."
And, since those programs are funded by taxpayers, Trump’s border wall is actually a brilliant business strategy that will save Americans money, Judd said:
“And, when they talk about the social programs – you’re talking about the billions of dollars that federal and state governments spend on health care, on schooling, and all these different costs that illegal aliens cost taxpayers.”
“And, so, when you look at what a wall will do, in allowing us to apprehend the vast majority of those individuals who are coming across the border, it will cut down on how much the taxpayer burden will be – which will then go straight into funding the wall.
“So, it’s a brilliant way to go about it. And, that’s the business strategy that President Trump is brings to the American people.”
Judd was reacting to a new analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies showing that, within 10 years, the border wall will pay for itself, if it prevents even 9-12% of illegal crossings, by saving taxpayers $12-15 billion.
If half of the illegal crossings are prevented, the study finds that taxpayers will save $64 billion in expenses like welfare, public education and refundable tax credits over 10 years.

380 Sheriffs Warn Congress Failure to Secure Border ‘Will Cost More Innocent Lives’
March 30, 2018 - Nearly four hundred sheriffs from around the country have sent a letter to all members of Congress calling for congressional action to secure America’s border. The letter, signed by 380 sheriffs representing 40 states, was spearheaded by Sheriff Thomas Hodgson from Bristol County, Massachusetts.
The letter, posted online by the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA), says Congress must act to secure the nation’s borders by:

    * Enforcing existing immigration laws,
    * Tightening border security,
    * Supporting the replacement of, and upgrades to, current barriers and fencing,
    * Constructing barriers along the U.S. and Mexico international boundary as requested by those areas where it is needed,
    * Suspending and/or monitoring the issuance of visas to any place where adequate vetting cannot occur,
    * Ending criminal cooperation and shelter in cities, counties, and states, and
    * Have zero tolerance and increased repercussions for criminal aliens.

“Without border security and immigration reform, more Americans will continue to be victims of crime. Now is the time to act,” the letter says, warning that serious illegal alien crime is increasing and harming Americans – because Congress has refused address the problem: “Year after year, we have been warning the Federal government about detrimental increases in transnational drug trafficking, gang violence, sex trafficking, murder, and other escalating incidents of crime by illegal aliens entering our country,” “Because Congress has failed to enact the necessary reforms, our citizens and legal residents face even greater dangers, our national security is more vulnerable, and our enforcement efforts have been seriously compromised.”

Without action, more Americans will die, the letter warns:

“Further delay and inaction on immigration reform will cost more innocent lives, more financial hardships, and an even greater decline in the public trust that is essential to the preservation of our Republic.”

The sheriffs also call for an end to local and state efforts – like sanctuary city policies – to thwart law enforcement efforts:

“These sanctuary policies, including the laws California enacted, directly undermine and limit cooperation and collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement, making it harder for America’s sheriffs to protect our citizens and legal residents.” “In addition, the problem of MS-13 and other gangs that operate back and forth across our borders has become worse because of our failure to secure the border and the continued court-ordered catch and release policies.”

Earlier this month, National Sheriffs' Association Executive Director Jonathan Thompson issued a statement condemning Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf for alerting criminals that there would be a law enforcement operation in her area which, Thompson said, “put both citizens and police in danger.” “What the Mayor is doing is dangerous and reckless. By alerting the public of the operation, she gave known criminal illegals safe harbor which ultimately put the people in that area, as well as law enforcement, in danger."

The Sheriffs’ letter says these types of policies not only frustrate law enforcement officers, they also endanger their lives: “The failure of Congress to create legitimate and comprehensive immigration reform for more than 20 years has dramatically undermined our ability to keep our communities safe. This not only puts our law enforcement at serious risk for danger, but further puts them in an untenable situation of violating our oath and promise to enforce the law."

Porous Border 'Is Certainly A National Security Issue'
April 2, 2018 | Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), a member of the Armed Services Committee, said without an act of Congress, President Trump cannot use military funding to pay for his border wall, as Trump suggested he might do.
"I think it would take an act of Congress to make sure that we prioritize and appropriate the dollars for that objective," Scott told CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday. "The reality of it is, as commander in chief, he can certainly send signals through (Defense) Secretary Mattis, have a conversation with Congress about where those dollars should be spent. The good news is, we're spending. We're providing more money to the military than we have in a very long time, more than a decade," Scott said. "The unfortunate reality is that the priorities of the DOD have already been set. However, our southern border is very porous. The truth is that more folks came through our southern border that did not come from Mexico. It is certainly a national security issue."

Scott said it's more appropriate for the Homeland Security Department, rather than the Defense Department, to "find the resources" to build Trump's long-promised wall. "You're saying Congress would need to weigh in to reprogram those funds?" host Margaret Brennan asked Scott. "Absolutely," the senator replied. "We should not expect that from the president," he added.

A week ago, President Trump said he might have found a way to build his wall, even though the omnibus spending bill rules out anything other than see-through "fences" and "levees." Trump tweeted at the time: "Because of the $700 & $716 Billion Dollars gotten to rebuild our Military, many jobs are created and our Military is again rich. Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M!" (M stands for military.)

In a second tweet, Trump wrote: "Much can be done with the $1.6 Billion given to building and fixing the border wall. It is just a down payment. Work will start immediately. The rest of the money will come - and remember DACA, the Democrats abandoned you (but we will not)!"

    CBP Deputy Commissioner: ‘Walls Work’
March 31, 2018 | Customs and Border Patrol Acting Deputy Commissioner Ronald Vitiello addressed reports Friday that Border Patrol agents on the front lines don’t want a border wall.
He stressed the importance of a border wall in denying entry to illegal immigrants and contraband. “I want to address something that’s been in the news lately. It’s whether our front-line operators - the dedicated men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol want and need, and these border barrier systems are what they asked for,” Vitiello said. “The information that we’ve used and the tools that we’ve developed, and the needs that are expressed in these requirements come from the field. The U.S. Border Patrol, sector chiefs, and agents in the field have been vocal about their need for effective barriers to deny the entry of illegal aliens and contraband,” he said. “The truth is walls work, and the data show it, and agents know it,” Vitiello said. “DHS and CBP are fully committed to a balanced investment in physical infrastructure, access and toll roads, technology, and personnel to support critical border security missions,” he said.

Vitiello also gave an update on the administration’s efforts to build the wall. He said with President Donald Trump and his administration’s leadership and commitment to border security, funding for the wall would not be possible. He said the eight prototypes of the wall were completed last October were built based on input and operational needs provided by Border Patrol agents. “In San Diego, we’re looking at 14 miles of new border wall, getting rid of old, dilapidated landing mats in favor of a steel bollard wall. We’re also replacing 14 miles of secondary barrier in San Diego. In Calexico, we’re on schedule and on budget to build a new 30 foot border wall as approved by the administration. This replaces two miles of pedestrian barrier,” Vitiello said. “More importantly, we identified this need back in 2009. In 2017, the administration fought and secured for enough funding, not only for its construction, but also for enough money to build it at the 30-foot height. Continuing east, we’re on track to 20 new miles of border wall in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Groundbreaking scheduled for April, early April,” he said. “In addition, we have four new miles in El Paso, Texas. In the Rio Grande Valley, we’re building 35 new gates along a stretch of 55 miles of existing border wall, closing critical gaps in the current infrastructure. Finally, we plan to replace at least 47 miles of dilapidated border fencing with new border wall system in various locations along the southwest border,” he said.

CBP also plans to build 25 miles of new levee wall in the Rio Grande Valley in Hidaldo County, Vitiello said. “Border wall system provides a comprehensive solution that combines wall, lighting, enforcement, cameras and other related technology on all weather roads to impede and deny illegal cross border activity.

Trump to send military to Mexican border
3 Apr.`18 - The president vows to deploy troops as hundreds of immigrants head north on foot through Mexico.
President Donald Trump has vowed to send the US military to secure the nation's southern border with Mexico. "We are going to be doing things militarily," Mr Trump said at the White House on Tuesday, adding that it would be a "big step". Earlier Mr Trump threatened to cut aid to Honduras amid reports of a "caravan" of asylum seekers heading for the US. Both of Mr Trump's predecessors in the White House deployed National Guard troops to help secure the US border. President Barack Obama sent some 1,200 soldiers to guard the boundary, while President George W Bush deployed about 6,000 troops to help Border Patrol in what was called Operation Jump Start.

The border, including the Rio Grande River, are policed by US Border Patrol

During a working lunch with leaders of Baltic countries on Tuesday, Mr Trump told reporters the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) was at risk unless Mexico stopped the flow of migrants. He tweeted earlier for the third day about the "caravan" of migrants heading north from Central America. "The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our 'Weak Laws' Border, had better be stopped before it gets there," he tweeted. "Cash cow Nafta is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen."

The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our “Weak Laws” Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!
    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 3, 2018

The president has been tweeting about illegal immigration for the last few days, accusing Democrats of allowing "open borders, drugs and crime".

    What is this 'caravan'?

Mr Trump began tweeting on Sunday about the "caravan" of about 1,100 mostly Honduran immigrants, following a report on Fox News' morning show that used the term. The group, which has been marching along roadsides and railways in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, is being organised by US-based Pueblo Sin Fronteras (People Without Borders). The migrants gathered in the south of the country on 25 March. The Mexican government said on Monday evening around 400 of the migrants had already been sent back home. Mexican officials told Reuters news agency they were determining whether the remaining migrants had the legal right to remain in Mexico. According to recent reports, the caravan stopped at a football field as participants decided whether to continue 800 miles north to the US, return south, or seek asylum in Mexico.

National Guard Headed to Mexican Border...

National Guard Headed to Mexican Border Once Governors Approve
4 Apr 2018 - National Guard troops will be sent to help patrol the southern border in lieu of the border wall once border state governors give the authorization, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said Wednesday.
"We do hope the deployment begins immediately," Nielsen said at a White House briefing on President Donald Trump's plan to have the National Guard aid in border security until the "big beautiful wall" he promised during his presidential campaign can be built. Nielsen, a former aide to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, did not have an estimate on how many National Guard troops will be mobilized and deployed but said, "It will be as many as are needed to fill the gaps." She said the number of troops would likely be in the range of the 6,000 who deployed as part of "Operation Jump Start" for border security during former President George W. Bush's administration. As in Jump Start, the troops would be strictly limited to surveillance activities and would not be charged with arresting or tracking those crossing illegally, Nielsen said.

Late Tuesday, the Pentagon said the military is looking at ways to expand upon its limited support for border security in line with Trump's push to have troops involved until he can find funding for a border wall. "There are a number of ways the Department of Defense is already supporting the DHS [Department of Homeland Security] border security mission," said Dana White, chief Pentagon spokesperson. White referred mainly to the unmanned aerial system surveillance flights over border areas flown by U.S. Northern Command. "We are still in consultation with the White House about ways we can expand that support," she said.

Members of the California National Guard work next to the U.S.-Mexico border fence Wednesday, June 21, 2006, near the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego.

Earlier Tuesday, Trump said at the White House that the U.S. military could be used to guard the southern border with Mexico until the wall is built. The president said he had already discussed the new mission for the military with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. "We are going to be guarding our border with the military," Trump said. Previous efforts at military assistance for border security during the administrations of Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have involved National Guard and Reserve troops who were limited to surveillance.

Nielsen said that the deployment of the National Guard troops is the result of Trump's "frustration" at not finding funding estimated at $20 billion to $30 billion to build a border wall. He said during his presidential campaign that Mexico would pay for the wall, but Mexico has thus far refused. Trump had asked for more than $20 billion for the wall in the omnibus $1.3 trillion spending package passed by Congress last month, but only $1.6 billion was approved. The president has proposed taking money from the military's budget for the wall, but Nielsen appeared to take that proposal off the table. She said the military might be asked to build walls only on the small sections of military land abutting the border.

Mexican president slams Trump over border plan
April 5, 2018 - Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on Thursday delivered a sharp rebuke to Donald Trump over the U.S. leader's plan to send National Guard troops to the border, urging him not to thrust Mexico into U.S. domestic politics.
“If your recent declarations are due to frustration over issues to do with internal policy, your laws, or your Congress, direct yourself to them, not to Mexicans,” a stern-looking Pena Nieto said in a pre-recorded address to the nation.

Mexico’s Senate and the country’s leading presidential candidates have all condemned Trump for his border plans in recent days, and Pena Nieto said he agreed with all of them.

Trump Wants 2,000 to 4,000 National Guard Troops on the Border Until ‘We Get the Wall’
April 6, 2018 | President Donald Trump said Thursday he’d like to see “anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000” National Guard troops on the U.S. border with Mexico and would keep them there “until such time as we get the wall.”
During an off-camera gaggle on board Air Force One returning to Washington, D.C. from West Virginia, Trump was asked how many National Guard troops he wants to see at the border. “Anywhere from 2,000 to 4,000. We're looking at a combination of from 2,000 to 4,000. We're moving that along,” he said. When asked how much it would cost, the president said, “We're looking at it, but, I mean, I have a pretty good idea, but it depends on what we do, but we're looking from 2,000 to 4,000. And we'll probably keep them, or a large portion of them, until such time as we get the wall.”

DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, meanwhile, said Thursday that the administration would send “as many troops as we need” and that she is in conversation with the governors of the border states about how many guards to send. “The reason is because it’s a partnership with the governors. It’s not us telling them and sending the guard. So we’re going back and forth right now. This is how we think we can supplement the Border Patrol, and then of course, we look for the good advice of the governors, who are on the front lines,” she said.

The secretary said she’s talked to all four governors and the conversations will continue. When asked what the guard would be doing on the border, Nielsen said, “It would be similar in part to Operation Phalanx, which was the area of surveillance.” “As you know, the border’s really big. We need to know where the people are crossing and who they are so that we can take action,” she said.

Army National Guard Operation Phalanx, which was established in 2010 by then President Barack Obama, consisted of 1,200 soldiers and airmen on the U.S. border assisting the Border Patrol for a one-year period. It provided support along the southwest border states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. It succeeded Operation Jump Start by former President George W. Bush, which consisted of 6,000 National Guard troops and airmen from 2006 to 2008. Nielsen said the National Guard troops would provide support. When asked whether the guard would be armed or unarmed, Nielsen said, “We, as you know, in the past, we have had-- in 2006, there were weapons, so it has been done before. The weapons didn’t have ammunition as you know, so we’re continuing the negotiation.”

Texas sends National Guard to Mexico border
7 April 2018 - The US state of Texas is deploying National Guard members to the border with Mexico following a call from President Donald Trump.
A Guard spokesman said 250 personnel would be sent to patrol the area within the next 72 hours. Arizona is also planning to deploy 150 troops there next week. President Trump says he wants to send up to 4,000 National Guard members to secure the border with Mexico, until his proposed border wall is built. The states of New Mexico and California have been asked to take similar action to Texas and Arizona.

Mr Trump's plans have sparked tensions with Mexico

Also on Friday, the US president outlined plans to end a practice dubbed "catch and release" as part of his stricter anti-immigration policies. Mr Trump wants illegal immigrants to be held in detention while they wait to hear if they will be deported, instead of being freed. He has asked the US Department of Defense for a detailed list of military and other facilities that could perform that function.

Mr Trump has sent several tweets over the past seven days railing against illegal immigration, and accusing Democrats of allowing "open borders, drugs and crime". He declared on Twitter that Republicans should "go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws [on illegal migrants] NOW". Mr Trump also threatened Mexico, saying the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) was at risk unless it stopped the movement of migrants over the border.

Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!
    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 1, 2018

Mexico's President Enrique Pena Nieto has condemned what he called "threatening or disrespectful attitudes" from Mr Trump.

    Is sending troops a first?
