Desperate to stop Trump, Flake eyes 2020 primary challenge

If the republicans are unable to reign in the President, Republican Senator Jeff Flake has this burning desire to challenge Donald Trump in 2020 as a republican or Independent if no one else is willing to pick up the flag and run.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Jeff Flake has a direct message for the Republicans of New Hampshire: Someone needs to stop Donald Trump. And Flake, a Republican senator from Arizona, may stand up against the Republican president in 2020 — either as a Republican or an independent — if no one else does.
“It’s not in my plan to run for president, but I am not ruling it out. Somebody needs to stand up for traditional Republicanism,” Flake told The Associated Press in an interview. “Somebody needs to raise that, for nothing else than to give people hope that that decent party will be back. We’ll get through this.”

Flake’s comments came on the eve of his first solo political appearance in New Hampshire, the state expected to host the nation’s first presidential primary election in less than two years. The 55-year-old Republican will deliver a speech Friday morning entitled “Country Over Party,” as part of the esteemed “Politics and Eggs” speaker series at Saint Anselm College.
Flake is among a very small group of Republican elected officials speaking out against the Trump presidency with increasing alarm.

If the democrats do not recapture both houses, then Flake may have to run for President since the current leadership in both houses seem unable to do much of anything these days. Either way we shall see.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Flake is a flake, seriously. He is not running in AZ due to his low approval ratings.
“Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured…but not everyone must prove they are a citizen. And now, any of those who refuse, or are unable, to prove they are citizens will receive free insurance paid for by those who are forced to buy insurance because they are citizens.”

You are correct; he does have lower approval ratings. Most likely he wants to give his fellow republicans a choice in the next elections. If he runs as an Independent all he'll accomplish is to siphon off votes in the election from Trump.

Flake is one of those establish Republicans who would rather see liberals win instead of conservative principles winning out as long as Trump is POTUS. There are many more just like him.

    Yea, three of them.
Liberals are a clear and present danger to our nation
