Not long ago,
I promoted the newly-emergent phenomenon of porn literacy classes that explain (without graphic depictions) to grade school students various ways in which they are being manipulated and deceived by an industry, causing our male members to flip out at the idea of their stupid porn being questioned and criticized in an official capacity. As much was a response I found amusing, if not predictable, for I am always, whenever I propose that pornography be banned, told that "the answer to free speech is more speech". And yet when I propose the answer of more speech (here: education) instead...it gets the same response!! Shocking, isn't it?
It turns out that the male defenders of this kazillion-dollar industry aren't actually supportive of free speech so much as a misogynist enterprise that caters to their every whim at the social expense of women as a group. Only the industry should be allowed to speak, as far as they are concerned; never its critics! More speech is off-limits too, it turns out. Let's see just how far they are willing to go in the defense of their constitutional right to masturbate to the physical abuse of women (and yes, @
The Xl, 94% of all violent acts in online pornography are directed specifically towards a female party). Are you willing to defend
actual rape, for example?
That's right! Many of those "rough" scenes you view are NOT simulations, but actual rape! Here's a recent example of some profile that has made the rounds online: in the video below, a porn performer verbally describes, in great detail, her recent experience on a "Just Dave" set (which turns out to be connected to the site Facial Abuse) wherein the few terms she agreed to (and you will easily be able to tell that this is a woman who hates herself, as you really have to be to work in a field like that) were blatantly violated again and again throughout the scene:
I find it particularly interesting that this scene, as described, was specifically intended to convey a message to feminists, with the young woman being required to wear a shirt that reads "FEMINIST" and asked, throughout the shoot, questions like "What has feminism ever done for black people?" and hit every time she tried to answer. Subtle political messaging, isn't it? (I have no doubt that there probably is indeed quite a market for that sort of material here on this web site.)
Anyway, she points out that, by the end of the shoot, she had a vaginal tear and a bruised cervix because the men had ignored the minimal terms of her contract. Another performer joins the video to describe a similar experience of her own.
This type of phenomenon is not uncommon. A large percentage of the porn movies available online are, like the one described at length in the above video, actual rape, and it's often impossible for the viewer to tell whether what they're watching is consensual or not because pornography graphically simulating rape is legal and common. Something to bear in mind the next time you decide to masturbate to this sort of material. But maybe
actual rape is okay with you too, as long as it gets you off? Just how far are you guys willing to take you're self-obsessed defense of this industry?
