Turns out he might not be a flat-earther!

Flat Earther Launches Himself 1,800 Feet In The Air On A Steam-Powered Rocket

...you may want to take his unshakeable belief in Flat Earth theory with a grain of salt. A handful of Redditors are pointing to evidence that suggests Hughes doesn't actually believe the Earth is flat. Rather, he has only recently adopted the ideology to raise money to fund his rocket projects.

Anyway, who cares why he's doing it? The man is climbing into a homemade, steam-powered death machine. Let's just enjoy the sublime insanity of it all. Here's a closeup shot of the launch:

I'm surprised he doesn't take a boat ride to see if he falls off the edge. Cheaper than building a rocket IMO.

A Daredevil Flat Earther Died After Attempting To Launch Himself 5,000 Feet With A Homemade Rocket

A daredevil who espoused flat Earth conspiracies died on Saturday after falling from a homemade rocket.

"Mad" Mike Hughes, a former limo driver who billed himself as "the world's greatest daredevil," was attempting to launch himself 5,000 feet into the air on a steam-powered rocket when his parachute failed.

In a video of the incident posted by freelance writer Justin Chapman, the parachute rips off immediately after launch and then moments later Hughes can be seen falling through the air and crashing to the ground in the desert near Barstow, California, as people present at the scene gasp.

I'm sure it is a joke or a publicity thing. No one honestly believes the earth is flat.

More than half of the Darwin Awards are faked.

A lot of very smart people belong to the Flat Earth Society. It is not a real belief. It is a debating practice tactic. It is seeing how well you can argue a point even if you do not believe in it. The Director of Research when I was in R&D was a Flat Earther. He ended up heading one of Obama's science programs.

I also had my suspicions that TheLiquidGuy is doing the same thing on this forum in just testing debate tactics.
You also see in on cable shows where you have people arguing the most ridiculous positions all the time but in their case the networks just want the fake fight for ratings.
