I think that it is a National Security issue and that Congress needs to fund it, 25 Million is crumbs to the Federal Government. I don't care where the money comes from, don't care that Mexico will not be directly paying for it upfront, I just want our leaders to get serious about stopping illegal immigration, now. I am sure tons of the dreamers would like to have some peace of mind too, but since the left refuses to even be serious about the bigger immigration picture, I guess they will let that group of possible future voters be deported. Talk about sad.

Think about it. Take away $40M, each week still nets $8.3B a year. It took 3 years just to put up the fence. This wouldn't be unprecedented in the world of lotteries. Many fund infrastructure or other projects.

Sometimes you need to think outside of the box. This wall does not have bi-partisan support. It doesn't even have 100% Republican support. However, if you suggest a lottery, that means that the people must choose to pay for it. What is Congress going to say - no, we can't allow the people to build the wall on their own dime if they so choose?

It won't need much "bipartisan support" once the electorate asswhips the Illegalocrats again, in November....it has MASSIVE SUPPORT amongst the American People.

Good Idea Doc but the liberas would say we were exploiting the poor because they tend to gamble more or something.
25billion is cheaper than paying for incarcerations and education and healthcare and pre natal and childbirths for illegals

The point I was making was fencing or a wall was never a hard sell until politics entered into the fray. The fact remains, all of the Senators mentioned supported border walls then....and all oppose now. Who is being political?

It brings this Member humor when trillions are spent annually without a peep by many Members here on tpf.....but 25 billion and to build a wall that would last for decades seems a "lot of money."

Uh...yeah. And then this same Member claims we need to remove politics from the debate.

No, I'm not making that up. Am I Dr. Who?

Is the wall being funded? No, it's not. If you would rather gripe about liberals than get the wall built, make your own day. Given the current state of affairs in Congress, the wall will never be built and all of the finger pointing in the world won't change the state of political polarization or the fact that more than half of the country could not care less about a wall. I suggested a non-political solution that would likely attract even those who have no interest in a wall to participate. Shrug.
